Taoglas and Cowboy Showcase E-Bike at Mobile World Congress Los Angeles 2021

Taoglas, an Enterprise Ireland-supported company, showcased their positioning solution for Cowboy’s electric bike along with u-blox at the Mobile World Congress Los Angeles 2021 taking place from October 26th to the 28th. MWC Los Angeles aims to help people, industry, and society thrive by unlocking the full power of connectivity. Over 1,000 exhibitors showcase  the hottest trends in connectivity and mobile innovation to policymakers and key wireless industry stakeholders during the three-day event. This year’s theme of Connected Impact explored how IoT Connectivity along with Telco Cloud, 5G Era, and Disruptive Innovation is shaping the future and continuing to transform lives.

Taoglas offers companies digital transformation using IoT from initial strategy definition to design, build, deployment, and managed services. Taoglas has worked on tens of thousands of IoT projects, and they simplify digital solutions with an innovative product range and the ability to provide custom IoT solutions.

Cowboy creates new-age electronic bikes that connect the rider with vital information through an app. Cowboy bikes provide real-time accurate positioning information to their riders using Taoglas’ Accura GVLB258.A, a multi-band GNSS L1/L5, high-performance stacked patch antenna, along with u-blox’s SAM-M8Q GNSS positioning module.

“Taoglas’ high-precision GNSS accuracy expertise, combined with u-blox’s positioning and wireless connectivity solutions are essential building blocks of our offerings, enabling a wide range of advanced micro-mobility services, which include Easy Rider for theft detection, bike insurance, and crash detection notifications.”  Tanguy Goretti, Co-Founder and CTO at Cowboy.

Los Angeles, the second-largest city in America, is known for its aspirational film industry, hilled landscape, and sunny weather, but it is also known for the traffic congestion issues on its large highways. Cowboy e-bikes, in conjunction with Taoglas and u-blox technology, provide a much-needed alternative transportation solution.

Bikes and even electronic bikes are not brand new in the micro-mobility industry, but the technology these companies provide creates a product whose positioning technology is an advanced development in the industry.

“By combining Taoglas’ world-class antennas with u-blox’s industry-leading wireless modules, micromobility providers can be confident that their customers have a reliable and high-performance positioning solution.” -Dermot O’Shea, Co-CEO of Taoglas.

Together, Cowboy, u-blox, and Taoglas are providing an attractive and modern mode of transportation that is simple to use. By providing support to companies like Taoglas, Enterprise Ireland is helping to improve the efficiencies of large cities like Los Angeles and solve not just traffic problems, but also improve overall global environmental health.
